The “Solaio Compound^®” Deck is designed, produced and patented by Coperlegno S.r.l.; it’s based on the synergy between glulam (able to give resistance to tensile stress) and concrete slab (able to give resistance to compression stress) obtaining maximum performances to resist both tensile and compressive forces.

A steel reinforcing rods must be laid before the concrete casting and usually pieces of steel rods are used to reinforce the connection between the heads of the glulams and the vertical supports (walls, parietal beams) .


The concrete cast, usually 5 cm. thick, completes the deck creating an homogenised slab.
It is clear that the relative low weight of this composite deck is a reason for using it in seismic zone for building new constructions a restructurings: in fact a good seismic performance can be achieved using a non-massive upper structure (such as our deck) well connected to the vertical structures.
