The new regulations about reaching the minimal italian technical requirements for a correct seismic performance must be achieved by every deck product in order to be used in seismic zones. This results can be achieved by the Solaio Compound®because of it's reduced weight (compared with that of a traditional deck) and it's capability to dispel the energy during an earthqake.
The interaction between Concrete and Glulams affects the relationship between the viscous dissipation and the hysteresis dissipation.
In fact the fundamental characteristics of this product are the reduced mass and the dissipation through the "controlled" scroll between the upper concrete slab and the glulam beams.
In particular, the weight of this Solaio Compound® means a significant reduction in size of all the vertical structures (ie walls) and this particular system of scrolling between the two components (concrete slab and glulams) helps to dissipate the energy in the context of considerable seismic intensity (until an eventual total disconnection).
In case of a destructive earthquake, the glulam can give more time to escape from the building before the complete collapse of the entire structure.
The technical characteristics are different from those of all other solutions already known (not using resins and / or metal connectors).
SEISMIC TESTS AT THE ENEA RESEARCH CENTER IN CASACCIA (ROME) ENEA - CAMPEC PROJECT
The verification of the behavior of the roof (made with the Solaio Compound® ) has been done with testing and characterization dynamic seismic testing at the research center of Casaccia on a model of masonry building.
There have been two accelerometers placed in the center of the two flaps of their correspondence of the center line of laminated beams and four central sensors relative shift (two laser and two-wire) to measure the flow under the dynamic interaction between the wood beams and slab in cls.
Were first carried out several tests driving a different intensity for checking the dynamic characterization of the deck where the frequency was in line with estimation and digital scrolling content was below the sensitivity of the instruments.
The structure was then subjected to seismic actions on vibrating table with increasing intensity until the collapse of the wall but "Solaio Compound ®" didn't collapse.
The experimental results showed that this deck:
• Stresses the vertical structures with non-massive behavior.
• Dissipates considerable amounts of energy for hysteresis in the same areas of the deck in the form of deformation strength, restore the original form and finally compression deformation.
• Halt the spread of injuries from building coverage through the joint ductile connection of the two bodies represented by glulam beam running as dynamic isolator.
• Make a kind of monolithic two-way plate.
Therefore, the " Solaio Compound®" it's a good solution both in the construction of new buildings is in adapting existing buildings.
Is immediately obvious from a first inspection in terms of acceleration that this system, greatly reduces the acceleration compared to a brick-cement deck.
The necessary synergy between the two elements making up the roof, concrete slab and glulam beams, to give adequate stiffness and strength, providing an excellent system that improve seismic upgrading of existing buildings.
Even in terms of sifts this system gives excellent results, as estimation had already predicted by previous analysis in terms of acceleration.
